Maintaining a strong campus culture sets the foundation for student wellness, retention, and academic achievement. Building and nurturing that culture requires long-term, ever-evolving strategies to meet each student where they are. In this webinar, Nash Community College (NCC) will share how they strengthened their campus culture by integrating data-informed, holistic support systems across campus, designed to empower students and bolster success initiatives. Learn about their on-site, full-service Student Wellness Center, featuring licensed mental health services, a collegiate recovery program, and basic needs assistance. The center also includes their Success Network of success coaches dedicated to fostering student well-being. Plus, they’ll share how they built multimodal strategies to advance equity and inclusion, generate enrollment regrowth, and increase persistence and retention. Marbeth earned her Master of Social Work at UNC and a Master of Arts in English at Abilene Christian University. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Marbeth is an affirmative practitioner; the celebration of diversity, bridging equity gaps, especially through love and education, and inclusive practices govern her ethical leadership style. In her role as Dean of Student Success, Marbeth oversees the Success Network, which includes the Advising and Success Center, Library Services, Student Engagement, Career Placement, ACA academic success courses, the Student Wellness Center, Watermark, and the MMSI initiative. She is a fierce advocate for holistic supports, self-determination, and social and racial justice. She uses cisgendered pronouns of she, her, hers.
Jamal Pitt, MPA A North Carolina native, Pitt currently serves as the Success Coach for the Associates in Engineering degree and Applied Engineering Technologies degree at Nash Community College. Pitt uses an empathic approach to student advising with holistic supports.In his role, Pitt focuses on understanding the barriers NCC students face so he can offer relevant, proactive and reactive support. His duties include student outreach, tracking student progress and assisting with needs to help students be successful. He also is the leader of the Minority Male Success Initiative (MMSI) program at Nash.
